Replacement

Today, my uncle, who became a widower five months ago, got married. To be able to find a replacement in about five months is quite fast, isn't it? But, it's not something new in my family.

My father got married only after a year of my parents' divorce. My grandfather wasted no time to find a replacement when my grandmother passed.

The way I see it, their marriages have no value. If they value their previous marriages, maybe it would take them quite some time to finally open up to someone new. Is it a guy thing to find a replacement straight away? Can't guys just stay single?

Well, my maternal grandmother has been a single mother for more than 30 years and she's doing fine. My aunt was a single mother for almost ten years before she met her current husband. My mother has been single for five years and another aunt of mine has also been single for quite some time.

I talked to a friend about this and he told me that I didn't understand a guy's needs. What's there to understand? A woman has her needs, too. Maybe a man needs a woman more than a woman needs a man.
